You have a brand new truck? Sorry not impressed. Oh that’s a 3,000 sq. foot home? Very well, duly noted. Oh wow, your child has a 4.0 GPA and is the class president? Sorry I’m still unimpressed. There ain’t much in this world that would make me think very highly of you. But you see, this is a generation of instant gratification infatuated with “things”. You know the old saying “he who dies with the most toys…..is still dead” (I may have paraphrased that just a hair). Truthfully there ain’t nothing wrong with owning stuff but, it’s only temporary and in the grand scheme of eternity matters very little.
You wanna know what impresses me?
1. A child who grows up to serve God. A child who respects his elders. A child who isn’t scared to work. A child with SCRUPLES
2. A man & a woman who’ve honored God in marriage and are willing to be different. A couple willing to be actively serving in their homes, their church and their community.
3. A young person willing to remain pure and untainted from immortality (almost unheard of these days huh)
4. A pastor willing to preach the Word of God. A pastor who’s not in it fer the money. A pastor willing to call SIN SIN.
You see, that new truck you drive to that big ol house filled with rebellious children and a disillusioned wife, it ain’t gonna drive you to Heaven. Ain’t none of this stuff gonna last. The Bible says to “store up fer yourselves treasure in Heaven” I’ve learned a long time ago that the only person i need to impress is my Heavenly Father. In doing so I(with God’s help) can achieve lasting results in those around me and most importantly in my family.
FOLKS, PLEASE CONSIDER ETERNITY. CONSIDER THE SACRIFICE THAT JESUS MADE FER ALL OF HUMANITY. CONSIDER THE LEGACY YOU’RE PASSING ON……. CONSIDER THIS BECAUSE, WHAT DOES IT PROFIT A MAN IF HE GAIN THE WHOLE WORLD AND LOSE HIS OWN SOUL.
