I heard tale of a man who was driving by a chemical plant with his young children in his vehicle. As they passed by the plant the man glanced at his children and asked a question, “do y’all have any idea what they do inside that facility”? To which the youngest child eagerly exclaimed….”of course we know dad, it’s so obvious”. Well out of curiosity the father asked the young child  back, “well, what do they do there sweetie?”  “WHY!!! THEY MAKE SMOKE DADDY!!!” she eagerly exclaimed. I’m certain that the father smiled as he heard her simple explanation, but this story struck a chord with me because it so totally represents the modern day Christian conservative persona.

The reality is that the Bishop Ticona plant actually produces plastics and sells the byproducts to other companies. But to the innocent child all she could see was the tops of the cooling towers silhouetted in the sky, and the massive stacks as they billowed out clouds of smoke and steam. To someone who is unfamiliar with the plant, to the untrained eye, that’s all that is observed…just smoke. It’s not like the plant does any sort of ad campaign or sends folks out into the neighborhoods to let us know what the heck they’re doing behind those massive fences. They don’t spend money to go door to door to educate the public about their functionality. Why would they, it wouldn’t be cost effective and would deviate from the actual goal of their facility. Well, unlike that chemical plant, what they don’t do is exactly what we SHOULD BE DOING.

Now I’m going to ask you, my reading audience, a similar question. When the world looks at you what do they see as being produced in both your life as well as the body of Christ? Are we producing qualities that others can benefit from? When your community looks at your church, is it just another building that gets filled on Sunday morning? Are you a good show on Sunday’s and Wednesday’s? Are you an outreach and inspiration to your community? Are we being productive and proactive or are we simply filling pews? I guess to really dumb this question down I could just ask this……ARE WE BEING PRODUCTIVE OR ARE WE JUST BLOWING SMOKE OUT THE STACKS???

The Blame Game!!!

DADGUM LIBERALS……..destroying America is what they’re doin’. Obama and his bunch of minions. Stinkin’ NSA spyin on us. Hillary gettin away with murder. Supreme court Justices changing the laws of the land to suit their liberal agenda. Gun runnin schemes by the Attorney General. Communist lovers holding Sec of State positions. NY state governors telling conservatives they are no longer welcome in “his” state. Muslim extremists infiltrating the highest levels of government. IRS singling out Christians and TeaParty groups. I mean COME ON FOLKS…..how much more of this can we stomach? And all of this we blame on the liberals…..right? Hold on, wait a tic, this is the same thing we accuse Obama of doing, passing the buck. How much of this is our fault? Would you be shocked and confused if I says that this is our fault? And as much as you might hate it, I would be 100% correct.

Isaiah 1:4-6 KJV

4Ah sinful nation, a people laden with iniquity, a seed of evildoers, children that are corrupters: they have forsaken the LORD, they have provoked the Holy One of Israel unto anger, they are gone away backward.

5Why should ye be stricken any more? ye will revolt more and more: the whole head is sick, and the whole heart faint.

6From the sole of the foot even unto the head there is no soundness in it; but wounds, and bruises, and putrifying sores: they have not been closed, neither bound up, neither mollified with ointment.

You see, what we have here is a heart problem. The problems in this country are a manifestation of the heart of its citizens. In the 80’s we decided, AS A NATION, to begin removing the 10 commandments, prayer, and the Bible out of our public schools. We murder babies like it’s a fashion craze. I read an article the other day that cited NYC kills enough babies through abortion in one year to fill the Super Bowl. http://www.lifenews.com/2014/01/22/number-of-babies-aborted-in-new-york-city-in-one-year-would-fill-super-bowl-stadium/ Our churches preach a prosperity gospel and our pastors refuse to preach on sin and the consequences of it.http://www.svchapel.org/resources/articles/22-contemporary-issues/620-joel-osteen-and-the-prosperity-gospel  We speak constantly of God’s love yet refuse to acknowledge His HOLINESS. State and Federal governments now accept that same sex unions (I personally refuse to call them marriages) are both legal and acceptable. And all of this happens the meanwhile Christians do very little to stem the flood of unGodliness. We blame the Democrats…..we blame the R.I.N.O. Republicans……we blame everyone except ourselves.

If you knew that you had a cancer in your body you would do everything you could to get the cancer out. Why? Because we all know that cancer kills. This country has a cancer in its heart yet we don’t exercise our God given rights to perform the necessary surgery. And the more we delay the worse the condition gets. Now the real question is, Is it too late? And I reckon that the answer is up to you and me.

2 Chronicles 7:14

14 If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.

Are we willing to humble ourselves before God? Are we willing to accept responsibility for our own actions? Can our country be healed from the great sickness that we have allowed to prosper? YES IT CAN, BUT IT’S UP TO US TO CHANGE OUR HEARTS.

The once brave warrior gazed with longing across an open field. The field lay vacant and deserted…not long ago this field was bustling with activity. A pile of bricks and masonary equipment lay idle and abandoned. A half finished battlement stained the panoramic view. Such hopes and dreams lay in this field. Plans of grandeur and strength lay in that pile of rubble. “Where did I go wrong?”, the warrior thought to himself. The enemy was still lurking in the shadows and his plans of fortitude and solace lay in ruins upon the floor of the otherwise vacant field.

Luke 14:28-30 KJV

28 For which of you, intending to build a tower, sitteth not down first, and counteth the cost, whether he have sufficient to finish it?

29 Lest haply, after he hath laid the foundation, and is not able to finish it, all that behold it begin to mock him,

30 Saying, This man began to build, and was not able to finish.

We call ourselves patriots but how many of us are just like this warrior? How many of us have actually counted the cost? We happily join this group and that group. We pledge allegiance to one organization or another. Yet scripturally we are not even close to ready to begin the battle. We often find ourselves sitting in that vacant field gazing at dreams of freedom and wonder where we went wrong. Being a patriot is so much more than sending out 100 tweets a day pounding on Obama (and there’s nothing wrong with that). But do we couple that with a proactive approach to freedom? Do we count the cost of time and money. In the year 2014 we will witness countless dollars being poured into the liberal regime to forward their message. And while we may criticize that, are we counting the cost? Are we working the phones for a candidate we believe in or are we cussing at our phones when they call us from their campaign trail? Are we vetting our candidates or are we letting the MSM or even FoxNews do that for us? Witnessing Marco Rubio and Paul Ryan that is obviously not such a wise idea.

Matt. 3:4 KJV “And saying, Repent ye: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.”

I Jn 1:9 KJV ” If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”

Acts 3:19 KJV “Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord;”

Once again I haven’t written any thing fer a while. My life has been, good Lord, hectic to say the very least. Juggling family, church, work and political activity to say I’ve been busy would be an understatement. But I come to ya’ll tonight with a message that the Lord shared with me through my wonderful son. On any given evening after dinner and before bed time our family of three gathers around each other to share what’s happened throughout the day and to spend some time in devotions together then followed by prayer. (they say the family that prays together, stays together. And after 10 years of marriage I can testify to that truth…..also there is documented evidence of the same.)

biblestudytools.com “The old adage, “The family that prays together stays together,” received some additional credence this week. A survey by the National Study of Youth and Religion at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill found that adolescents ages 12 to 14 reared in religious households are more likely than their peers from nonreligious families to admire their mother and father, to not run away from home, to eat dinner with their parents and to have Mom and Dad involved in their social lives.”

Well anyways, we were done with devotions the other evening and were praying together. I had shared that evening about how we should confess our sins to the Lord in order to keep our hearts pure before Him. Well, my son was praying and I was listening in on the conversation when I noticed a trend in what he was sayin. “Dear Lord help me to not get angry…..dear Lord help me to not fight with my friends…..dear Lord help me to respect my parents….” I’m not making this up that is almost verbatim what he prayed that night. As he closed his prayer the Lord smacked me in the head and said, “how many times have you asked fer help instead of asking for forgiveness?” I thought about this all the next day till I had a head ache the size of the state I live in (yup that’s Texas) and I came to the conclusion that askin for help (while there ain’t nothin wrong with that) is entirely something different from askingfor forgiveness. I really don’t think that God can or will help us until we first repent of the thing that is separating us from His presence.

Now all that bein said I reckon I should clarify something for you guys…..I never once criticized my son for his prayer. At ten years old he is just speaking his heart to the Lord and I would never wish to discourage him in any way. When he prays sincerely it is so moving and wonderful, and unless you have children you probably wouldn’t understand this emotion.

Well I’ve gone and done it. Years of mechanic work are starting to wear on my body. Seems the other day I over rotated my thumb and gave myself a righteous case of torn ligaments in my wrist. I gotta tell you, it hurts like the dickens. So the other night (before doctor visit) I thought I’d be smart and use an ACE bandage to keep my thumb immobile. Looked through the medicine found the bandage but lo and behold the little clips were missin.

Well I found myself up a creek cause no matter how I wrapped the wrist I couldn’t get the darned thing to stay fer any length of time. It kept unravelling and comin loose. Tied a knot here, pulled it under there….no luck. As I was fightin with the bandage I started thinkin about America, (I do that a lot) and became enamoured with tha idea that those little clips are like some really precious books and documents (I’ll start the list with the Bible, then add something called the U.S. Constitution, throw on a good helping of the Bill of Rights and I think you know what I’m referring to)

which for quite some time have held the fabric of this nation together and now that they are being removed this country is comin ravelled.
You see, without those clips that bandage would work for a temporary fix but it wouldn’t stand the test of time. One of the main things that hold this country together is the blessing of God. And when we began taking Him out of our schools and courtrooms this country began its downward spiral. The good news is that I was able to replace the missing clips very easily. The task before us as a nation however is not quite as easy. But if we don’t get started it’ll never get done.

Fields of Faith…FCA

Haven’t written anything in a while just cause the amount of incompetence right now in DC is overwhelming and daunting. Trying to pinpoint and write about a single act of terror against America by the current dictator is an impossible task. I’ve decided to leave that to my more educated friends.  So instead I’ll write about something uplifting and inspiring. It seems my country is not entirely doomed .
A week ago I took my youth group to an event called fields of faith. In case y’all aren’t familiar with FCA (Fellowship Of Christian Athletes)  this is a nationwide group of highschool students who meet once a week and discuss how they can better serve God to their fullest potential.

Fields of faith was a get together of all the local groups and was held at Texas A&M Kingsville Javelina Stadium. I was blown away when the president of the college and the sports director stood and unashamed gave glory to God. With all you hear on liberal media you would think this would be frowned upon….hahaha I reckon Texas is still fairly red after all. I felt hope and reassurance rise as I realized there are still conservatives in positions of authority who are willing to make a stand. Now perhaps in years to come this opportunity fer us to use a public venue such as a college campus to worship God may disappear, but fer now we need to support these institutions as they strive to raise the bar fer the next generation of Americans.

I hope this little mini blog gives you the hope that I was given. I’ll tell you what, there was probably around 500 kids there at the stadium and I was absolutely astounded at their worship. Wow, there are kids out there who are willing to be different, they’re willing stand outside the “status quo”. We need to pray every day fer this generation. They’re gonna be taking care of us one day and how we raise them will determine the outcome.

I heard tell today a beautiful story. A story of love and a story of betrayal. A story with a message so powerful I felt obliged to pass it on. In a time when we are focused on politics and government I reckon its a good thing to hear a story such as this to bring our attention back on the reality of what is most important in our lives.
The time of this story is, well let’s just say, a long time ago. Before social media and emails, before cell phones and lap tops. Once upon a time folks relied on somethin called snail mail fer long distance communication. Ahhhh, letters….a long lost art. And the characters in this story you ask? A young lady, a mailman and a young farmer….oh you’ve heard this story ya say? Well I hadn’t so let’s not spoil the ending shall we. It seems that both the young suitors were madly in love with the young lady and were both courting her….courting, what tha heck is that? Yup, courting, another long lost art form. Before “dating” young gentlemen would court their prospective wives under the supervision of the parents……hmmmmm there was very little teen pregnancy in these days, but that’s a different story fer a different day. Anyhow, it seems the young farmer fell upon terrible times and had to move to the city to make ends meet…and, the story goes, he did very well in the city. As the days drew into weeks and the weeks to months the young man wrote letter after letter to the young woman expressing his unending love fer her and his passionate desire to make her his wife. This went on fer an entire year without a single reply from the lady. Finally in despair and grief the former farmer, now big city boy cut his losses with a broken heart. He never wrote another letter and just assumed that she was gone forever. Many years later the ladies daughter was overheard tellin the story of the two young suitors….”What ever happened to the farmer boy?” asked the recipient. The daughter replied, “We have no idea, he left town and was never heard from again”.

Looking back we know the reality and truth….the 2nd suitor was a mailman and those love letters never made it to her hands and heart. Now is this story real? Is it folklore or urban legend? I don’t reckon we’ll ever know. I know its more than possible that this happened, probably on more than one occasion and under multiple circumstances. But herein lies the real question……HOW MANY OF GOD’S LOVE LETTERS TO US ARE ROBBED AND DENIED US BY MATERIAL THINGS AND INCONSEQUENTIAL DO-DADS? WE CAN’T ALLOW THE CARES OF THIS WORLD TO SEPARATE US FROM GOD AND STRIP AWAY THE ETERNAL BLESSINGS FROM OUR HEAVENLY FATHER..

credits to @Apache_rider fer sharing this story with me….I’m sure I butchered it entirely, but the message remains true.

I’m so stinkin fired up right now. I’m angry (but not sinning), I’m hurt (but not wishing to administer pain), I’m disgusted (to the point of high blood pressure), and I’m disappointed (but not to the point of giving up). My wife says I need to choose my battles but there are so many things wrong in this country that I’m havin a hard time figuring out which to do battle with. And I think I’ve realized that this is the whole point of the liberal agenda. The left is flooding us with.such a barrage of items that we as conservatives are beginning to feel overwhelmed. And if we’re overwhelmed then we’re not thinking properly and they’ve won half the battle.
OK, so why am I fired up? I reckon the hot topic fer me right now is the Rivera Independent School District in Rivera, Texas. One of the (un-named) members of my youth group was talkin about their Spanish class. And in the course of this discussion I was informed that as a prerequisite to pass tbe class they were required to learn the UNITED STATES PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE in Spanish. As a veteran and the son/grandson/great-grandson of a veteran I have a HUGE problem with this. Now perhaps you don’t see an issue here, perhaps this is just a way to learn a 2nd language? But why of all things would the teacher insist on the Pledge Of Allegiance? Surely with all the text books and articles available some other published work could have been chosen. Y’all tell me, maybe I’m missin something here and my anger is unjustified.

Perhaps I’m going a little overboard and should just let this go? Perhaps the millions of veterans who served honorably don’t mind that our Pledge of Allegiance to the United States is desecrated in this horrendous way? But I doubt it!!! I know I’m not alone here, it’s time we get active in our communities, it’s time we start attending those board meetings and let our voices be heard. We can’t let these liberals stamp on everything we hold dear.

Jacob and Esau; trading our freedoms

I reckon I should start this by stating that I am neither a child therapist nor a psychiatrist so by liberal standards I’m most likely unqualified to speak on this subject. But what I am is a parent so by conservative standards I suppose it’ll be alright.
Children are born liars, that’s not an opinion it’s a fact. A baby cries and we pick it up, correct? It’s not hungry or hurting, it just demands attention. We know this because once we’ve cradled the little one the crying stops. So at a very young age the art of manipulation can be instilled, if we allow it. Now you bleeding hearts don’t form a negative opinion of me fer saying this because I love my son and indeed when he was cryin’ I certainly picked him and held him. After all, I’m a parent and would be a cold hearted one if I didn’t.  (WOW, WHERE DID THAT COME FROM? DOESN’T EVEN HAVE ANYTHING TO DO WITH MY ORIGINAL THOUGHT?)
Children are by nature naive and trusting. They have no opinion of the value of money, nor do they comprehend free trade. Matter of fact….this is fun, you can try it. If you give a child a $100 bill

let them play with it a while then offer them a bright shiny new quarter,

they will most likely  trade you that worthless piece of paper (at least to their young mind) for something much more glamorous. You see the child doesn’t understand the true value of that piece of paper, all they see and recognize is the beauty of the quarter.
As I write this I think of Jacob and Esau. Esau being the eldest was to be the recipient of Isaac’s birthright. But Jacob was cunning and tricked his brother into giving up the birthright fer a bowl of lentils.

WHAT WAS HE THINKING,  A BOWL OF BEANS, SERIOUSLY??? Esau’s response was…..what good is the birthright to me if I die of hunger. That bowl of lentils was like the shiny quarter, it’s worth was menial at best and short lived. In a few hours Esau would be hungry again and what would he trade fer the next bowl of beans? More importantly what could he offer to be restored his birthright? After all, he had already given up the most valuable of possessions.

Liberals are the modern day Esau’s, happily trading my freedoms and rights fer an already proven failure. Liberals are petulant like the child and can’t see past the shiny splendor of the quarter. Liberals live only fer the moment and the next great idea even if it’s a proven train wreck.
The Bill Of Rights and Constitution are, yup you guessed it, the $100 (only their value is exponentially greater). Neither can be replaced, and I fear once bartered will be forever lost much like Esau’s birthright.

Well here I go….doin something phenomenally stupid again. You’d think after 34 years of existence I’d have learned by now what is a wise decision and what is a really bad idea. Well, enough about me…..let’s get on with my story.

I have been recently doing some after hours working trying to raise some money for a very worthy cause (when all is said and done I’ll do a blog on what’s goin on) and tonight I was cutting a piece of property fer a gentleman. As I was cutting down the drive I noticed a snake in the grass. I immediately dismounted the JD and chased him through the grass. Now I ain’t a zoologist I jest know that snakes fascinate me. Which is kinda dangerous cause I don’t know which ones are safe and which ones are dangerous. Anyhow, I chased him through the grass, all 4′ of him, stepped on his tail (another bright idea), then tried to grab him by the head (see I know a little something about snakes). OK, I gotta take a break here and let you know, there is a point to this tale. Those of you who are familiar with my wandering thoughts know that eventually one of three things are gonna happen before I’m finished. 1. I’m gonna talk about God 2. I’m gonna talk about politics, or 3. I’m gonna do a combination of 1&2. So hang tough, eventually I’ll get to tha point…LOL. My foot is now on the tail of an out of control snake and I’m tryin to grab his head with one hand and hold a camera with the other….OF COURSE I’M FILMING IT…I finally grab him by the tail and throw him out into the cut lawn where I can get a better look at him. There he lay, coiled on the ground and I go over to “play with him” some more. He strikes at me a few times then after a couple of minutes I let him get off into the field. Now I’m pretty pleased with myself until a thought crosses my mind, “I wonder what kind of snake that was?”. Now, a normal  person would ask that question before he plays with a snake don’t you think? After a little research, I discovered it was a rat snake and is non-venomous.

And now that I’m thinking about this, it seems I have a history of playing with dangerous snakes. Just ask my mom, I recall a time as a child when I had captured a snake in a sand bucket and was toyin with it, showed it to my mom (full of pride and accomplishment I’m sure) she called C.E. (yup I’m an AF brat) and they came, told my mom it was poisonous, and took it away.

But back to my question, who plays with snakes without knowing what type of reptile they are? I’ll tell you who, A VERY FOOLISH ONE. I John 4:1-3 KJV says “Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world. 2. Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God. 3. And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of anti-Christ, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world.” Why in tha heck would we attend a church or listen to a TV preacher without properly vetting them first? When we go to church do we try the preaching to see if it is truly of God? Or do we just assume because they carry the title of PASTOR they are automatically “men of God”. Folks, in these current times of false teaching and wolves preying on the church we must be careful (full of care) when selecting who is ministering to our families. Do not assume that the man behind the pulpit has your spiritual growth in mind. I am blessed in that I was able to find a church who has a true shepherd leading the flock. My pastor truly is a man of God, he speaks the truth of God’s word every day.

Now the same truth applies to our politicians, why in the name of freedom would you ever vote for a candidate without knowing what that person truly stands for? Why would you assume just cause that person is backed by the TeaParty that he/she is truly a Constitutional Conservative (see Marco Rubio the amnesty king). There is a group on Facebook and Twitter who are doing what we all should be doing, and that is VETTING OUR CANDIDATES. They are the Constitutional Freedom Party @CFP4US (check them out). There is another great organization, you can find them at icaucus.org, which I recommend you √ out. If we ever expect to take this country back we have got to get the right folks in office, Ted Cruz is great but he can’t do it alone.

There you see……I was able to tie a spiritual and a political twist to my foolishness  😀
